The Indian Hills Police Department mantains an email distribution list which is utilized to provide timely notification to residents regarding known or suspected criminal activity. Being informed by and communicating with the police department is one of our most effective crime deterrent strategies.

To subscribe to the Crime Alert distribution list, go to http://ihpd.org/mailman/listinfo/alert_ihpd.org and complete the Subscribing to Alert section.

You will be asked for your email address, name, and a password. The only requirement is your email address. Your name is optional but providing it may assist the IHPD should circumstances ever warrant contacting you alone directly. If you do not choose a password, one will be established for you. The password will only be required if you need to change your email address or unsubscribe from the distribution list. All information will be held in confidence, and used only for the distribution of Crime Alert emails and official IHPD correspondence.

Following submission of your subscription request, you will receive an email requiring you to confirm your subscription. This confirmation prevents individuals from subscribing email addresses they do not control. To insure your request is properly processed, visit the referenced web site rather than simply replying to the confirmation email. Once your subscription is confirmed, you will receive a welcome email with some general information and your password.

Additional Information:

Only the IHPD is authorized to send messages to this distribution. Any attempts to send messages to this list will be blocked and forwarded to the IHPD for analysis. Those attempting to send messages to this list may be removed from the list, and denied further subscription.

It is acceptable to have multiple subscriptions to the list, e.g., both your home and work email addresses. Just note that they will not be linked so all notifications will go to all subscribed email addresses.

If you unsubscribe from this distribution list, you will receive an email confirming your unsubscription.

The mailing list program being used to provide this service is a multipurpose script and has a variety of features which are not used in the IHPD application. Although some of these features are described in the computer generated welcome email and on the Crime Alert help and configuration pages, they are not in use and may not be activated. It is recommended that you not attempt to make any changes other than changing your email address and/or password if required, having your password emailed to you, or unsubscribing when desired.
